With very limited expertise in haemophilia at the beginning of 2016, there was an urgent need to build basic care and infrastructure to improve the lives of people with haemophilia.

Paraguay 1: Consolidating care and creating networks

At the beginning of 2015, whilst there was some care provision for people with haemophilia living in Paraguay, the need to improve the organisation of this care was important. “Before this project, very little was talked about at an institutional level and almost nothing was organised to deal with haemophilia,” explained Mayda Tamara Yasychyn, NNHF project partner.

Palestine 1: Ministry of Health leads journey to improved care

In 2014, a team formed by the Palestinian Ministry of Health embarked upon an ambitious project to improve haemophilia care in the country. Undeterred by several setbacks along the way, the team is now proud to be considered the country’s reference point for people with haemophilia and their families.

Mexico 3: A playful approach to rehabilitative care

The Mexico 3 project started in 2015 with the objective of setting up paediatric rehabilitation in the two largest hospitals in the country providing haemophilia care for children.

Malaysia 3: Establishing a women’s group to lead change in Malaysia

Empowering women to become leaders and to activate regional chapters within the patient organisation in Malaysia was the aim of the NNHF Malaysia 3 project, which started in 2016 and was finalised at the end of 2017.
