A joint approach to improving care in Vietnam

First-time meeting for physicians across Vietnam

pictureFor the first time, haemophilia treating physicians from across Vietnam – from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City - came together for a workshop.  Each presented the care approach in their respective region to set a basis for discussion of common challenges and related action. With the aim of identifying how haemophilia care can be further improved in Vietnam, delegates developed a list of requirements that focused on establishing diagnosis and treatment guidelines, delivering an educational programme to healthcare professionals with a focus on regional care delivery, and awareness raising amongst patients, families and communities.

Tackling joint challenges

It was concluded that to ensure focus and consistent engagement in achieving the above, the first step is to work with the existing National Haematology Society and create an official Vietnamese haemophilia group with assigned responsible persons from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Hue region.  This group will decide a common approach on how to tackle joint challenges and agree on how to implement related activities in each region.

NNHF now looks forward to supporting the team in developing a project application on this theme.
