On its first visit to the Philippines, NNHF gained an insight into the haemophilia situation and began the first steps in developing programme ideas tailored to the country’s needs.
Ideas discussed with the key local community stakeholders included establishing home treatment, improving access to care for patients living outside of the main cities, and setting up an online national registry. Shortly after the visit, Dr Flerida Hernandez submitted a project application which was approved at the last NNHF Council meeting focusing on improvement of diagnosis, training healthcare professionals and upgrading the patient registry to a web-based national programme.
