The multi-disciplinary team in Panama (pictured right) is busy getting activities for the second NNHF funded project underway.
As a first step Dr Nadia Barsallo, a doctor from Hospital del Niño in Panama City, is undertaking six months training with Dr Margareth Ozelo in Campinas, Brazil. This will give Dr Barsallo an insight into how advanced haemophilia care could be structured and optimised, enabling her to better support Dr Moreno and her team.
Upon her return, she will support the project team which will create six satellite haemophilia clinics in key cities across Panama.
In addition, project plans include the organisation of a patient camp for children with haemophilia providing information on management of haemophilia, highlighting the importance of adapted exercise and addressing the psycho-social aspects of the condition.
