MD Pakistan Bait ul Mal (PBM) offers full support to improve the quality of life for children with bleeding disorders.
The Haemophilia Patients Welfare Society (HPWS) Rawalpindi and Islamabad chapters, organised a picnic for its members. This provided an excellent opportunity for the children to enjoy the outdoor beauty.
"We love it out here" said one of the children. "We are so relaxed that the children are able to enjoy" said one of the parents.The children were joined by a number of government and public representatives. Prof Tahira Zafar, Chairperson of the Medical Advisory Board of HPWS discussed the challenges faced by people with haemophilia in Pakistan. She talked about the extremely successful patient education project, in collaboration with NNHF, where educational material was translated into Urdu and distributed to patients all over the country.
In addition to this, workshops were conducted in all 4 provincial chapters to educate patients, train master trainers and teach first aid measures. This has empowered families and patients, so the families are now able to control their own lives. She stressed the importance of close liaison of patients with their carers, so that help is easily accessible when required. Dr Tahira Zafar thanked MD Bait ul Mal, all the participants, the media and NNHF for the help and support provided to people with haemophilia.
PBM has made a real change to the lives of these children and is providing factor support. This has led to a major shift in the quality of life of people with haemophilia in Pakistan. Zammurud Khan, MD PBM holds these children very close to his heart. Speaking at the occasion of World Haemophilia Day, which he helped to organise at a Park for disabled children, run by PBM, he said:
"I will do whatever is needed to help these children and their families". Mr Saif ul Islam, President of the HPWS and Dr Samina Amanat also addressed the gathering.The event ended with a resolution by all the parties to support the cause of children with haemophilia. This will be done both by providing treatment and also by creating awareness about haemophilia in Pakistan.
