Christine A Lee
Christine A Lee is Professor of Haemophilia and Consultant Haematologist and Director of the Haemophilia Centre and Haemostasis Unit, Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust and Royal Free and University College Medical School, University College, London, UK. Educated at the University of Oxford, Professor Lee was the first woman to be awarded a clinical scholarship by the University of Oxford Medical College. After working for five years at various teaching hospitals in London, Professor Lee specialized in haematology and became interested in haemophilia while working at St. George’s Hospital. She joined the Royal Free Hospital in 1983, was appointed consultant in 1997 and director of the Haemophilia Centre and Haemostasis Unit in 1991. In 1996, Professor Lee was awarded a DSc (Med) by the University of London for her work on the side effects of treatment. Professor Lee has published more than 200 scientific papers on the side effects of treatment, particularly hepatitis and HIV. In 1995, she co-founded the international journal 'Haemophilia', which she continues to co-edit. Professor Lee is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP, FRCPath).
